Minimum sales staff legislation to affect FMCGs only
Legislation being drafted by the Hungarian government that could establish a minimum staff requirement for stores over 400 sqm would apply only to supermarkets and other stores that sell fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), Hungarian government-friendly daily Magyar Idők reported this morning.
Hungarian daily Világgazdaság reported yesterday that the government was planning to put forward legislation in the next two weeks that would set a minimum staff requirement for stores over 400 sqm.
The draft bill stipulates, Világgazdaság said, that retailers must provide at least one staff member for every 70 sqm of space they occupy, and these employees would be required to assist customers during opening hours.
